Inder Raj Bahl, also known as I. K. Bahl passed away on February 23 at his home in Juhu, Mumbai. At the age of 92, he had been unwell for a while and was receiving dialysis treatment.
Confirming the news, Rikku Rakeshnath said, “He has passed away and the prayer meet is on Monday.”
Inder Raj Bahl was a longtime secretary of veteran actress Hema Malini. He also produced many films and television shows. He also co-produced Dream Girl (1977) starring Hema Malini, alongside the actress’ mother Jaya Chakravarty.
Inder Raj Bahl was acknowledged for backing the films like Swami (1977) featuring Girish Karnad and Shabana Azmi, directed by Basu Chatterjee, and Shaukeen (1982) also directed by Basu Chatterjee. Additionally, he produced Banaras (2006) with LC Singh and Pankaj Parasher, starring Karan Nath, as well as Basu Chatterjee’s television show Darpan.
Talking to The Times of India, his son Bunty Bahl said, “He lived his life king size and gave us all the freedom or knowledge or liberties & love all his life. Extremely positive and a very sensible person. Most amazing Human being who dealt with every situation with a positive mind and found solutions rather than adding to the problem.
