Exclusive: Prithviraj Sukumaran reacts to SS Rajamouli saying Malayalam industry has “better actors”

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli heaped high praise on Premalu and the Malayalam film industry as he admitted that Malayalam cinema produces “better actors”. Now, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is currently gearing up for the release of Blessy’s The Goat Life, has reacted to the RRR director’s claim.

In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared his thoughts on SS Rajamouli’s opinion of the Malayalam film industry. He said, “I take this compliment from the legend with all humility. But I also think that there are great actors everywhere in the film industry. Maybe at the moment, Malayalam actors are lucky to have great content available to us to show our craft and skills more regularly and consistently. Great films are being made in Malayalam and I’m very happy.”

He further added about his co-star, “But good actors exist everywhere in the country and in the world. Take Jimmy [Jean-Loius] for example, we wanted an Ibrahim Kadri and it took us three years. And it was not that Jimmy Jean-Loius was a name readily available to casting agents in India.”
